On Saturday 16th September Specsavers in Burton celebrated 25 years in the town and to mark the occasion the opticians was raising money for their national charity for this year, the Royal National Institute for Blind People, as well as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Specsavers staff had been hard at work baking cakes which were sold in aid of the two charities, as well as putting on a raffle and a tombola too. Joining them to celebrate was Burton’s MP, Andrew Griffiths, Billy Brewer from Burton Albion, Pickle the guide dog and his trainer Melvin as well as local professional golfer, Harrison Long.
Andrew said, ‘Big thanks to all the staff at Burton Specsavers for putting on a great event, baking so many cakes and for raising lots of money for two superb charities. Thank you also to Burton Albion Community Trust and Billy Brewer for showing their support and for leaving some cake for me to take home to my wife Kate.’
