Burton and Uttoxeter MP Andrew Griffiths has encouraged local residents to support their local small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign being held on Saturday 6th December, encouraging people to support small businesses by shopping in a local independent shop, using a local small company or even visiting a local pub.
Andrew said: “Small business are so important to our economy, and so I want to encourage everyone in Burton and Uttoxeter to take part in Small Business Saturday and support local small businesses.
“In a week when the Chancellor has announced more support for small businesses by extending the doubling of business rate relief for another year and increasing the discount on business rate for shops, pubs and cafes on the high street from £1,000 to £1,500, it is really important to show our support for our local small businesses.
“So on Small Business Saturday, in the run up to Christmas and in the weeks and months to come, shop independent and shop local!”
You can show your support for Small Business Saturday on social media by taking a photo of yourself using a small business and posting it using the hashtag #SmallBizSatUk.
According to figures from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, small businesses make up 99.3% of all private sector businesses in the UK.
