Last week I attended the Conservative Party Conference just down in Birmingham where the Prime Minister announced the Government’s vision for Britain outside the EU. A fully independent, sovereign country which is free to pass its own laws and can decide for itself how to control immigration as well as seize the opportunities that leaving the EU represents by getting out into the world and doing business right across the globe.
Mrs May announced that the Government will invoke Article 50 by the end of next March and will legislate to introduce a Great Repeal Bill which will see the authority of EU law in Britain come to an end on day one of the UK leaving the EU.
The Government is working hard to get a good deal for Britain but one that is unique to the UK and not an ‘off the shelf’ solution. However, this will take time and as I have said many times already we must ensure this is a deal that works for everybody. Theresa May has been clear in her mission to ensure that Britain is a county that works for everyone and not just the privileged few. You can watch a short video on those plans by clicking here.
