The A38 was one of the most dangerous roads in the West Midlands. Following a fatal road accident and almost weekly minor collisions and serious accidents, Andrew mounted a campaign to improve road safety for all those using the A38. As part of a long running campaign Andrew worked alongside organisations such as the police, the fire brigade, the Road Safety Partnership and local councils, and raised the issue in Parliament with the Secretary of State for Transport. Andrew convinced the Highways Agency to close the dangerous gaps which allowed people to cut across the dual carriageway and introduce a 60mph speed limit. As a result of this campaign, lives have been saved and the road is safer for everyone who uses it.
