Securing The National Football Centre In Burton

stadium Andrew led the successful campaign to bring the new St George’s Park football centre to Burton.

The FA first proposed building the centre in Burton ten years ago, and after years of delay it was finally built. Andrew launched a petition at www.bringittoburton.com to campaign for the centre to be built and met with FA representatives and local Councils to call for an end to the delays.

As a result of his campaign, Andrew was asked by the Football Association to dig the first sod when construction started at the site. Andrew continues to work with the FA. St George’s Park is now the home of not only the senior England football team but also all the England teams including the ladies teams and the disability teams. It is a vitally important national sporting facility as well as a hugely important employer in the town.
