Securing the National Football Centre in Burton

Andrew and local Conservatives campaigning for the National Football Centre

Andrew has led the successful campaign to bring the new St George’s Park National Football Centre to the area without any further delay.

The FA first proposed building the centre in Rangemore - just outside the Burton constituency - 10 years ago and, after years of delay, work has now begun. Andrew launched a petition at www.bringittoburton.com to campaign for the centre to be built and met with FA representatives and local Councils to call for an end to the delays.

The Centre will mean £80million being invested in the site - bringing jobs to our area just when they are needed the most and world-class facilities for the local community.

Not only will the National Football Centre develop new English talent but it will also be a central hub to improve grassroots football coaching. Local sports and community groups, as well as our own Burton.Albion, are already benefiting from the use of the Centre’s existing training pitches.

Andrew is campaigning to make sure that a share of the contracts are awarded to local companies, which would create even more jobs.
