Andrew Griffiths welcomes crime falling to a new low

Burton’s MP Andrew Griffiths has welcomed news that crime has fallen by over a quarter (32 per cent) since 2010, to its lowest ever level, according to the independent Crime Survey for England and Wales. In Staffordshire, crime recorded by the police has fallen by 11% since 2010.

Commenting, Andrew said: “These figures show the strength of this Government’s record in bringing crime down to its lowest ever level.  The reduction in crime in Staffordshire is good news for everyone in Burton as it makes our community a safer place to live, work and raise a family. We have to continue to build on this success by electing a Police and Crime Commissioner that will work with the Government to deliver more visible policing and better use of police resources.  Matthew Ellis has done a brilliant job as our Police Commissioner so far, helping to increase the amount of time officers are able to spend on the beat by cutting their red tape, and doing more to prevent people suffering a mental health crisis from being locked up in a police cell, and it is essential that he is able to continue this work.”
