A GOVERNMENT spending watchdog racked up a massive £6,500 bill on flowers.

The Audit Commission – tasked with boosting town hall efficiency – splashed the cash for reception areas at its offices in London, Bristol and Leicester.

Details of the expenditure were given in response to a Parliamentary Question tabled by Andrew Griffiths, Conservative MP for Burton and Uttoxeter.
