MP FLIES THE FLAG FOR WORLD CUP WONDERS

Tuesday 8th June 2010 (Andrew Griffiths)
MP FLIES THE FLAG FOR WORLD CUP WONDERS

Burton MP, Andrew Griffiths, is getting ready for the World Cup and showing his support for the England football team. Following the patriotism shown by residents across Burton, Andrew has brought some of the same World Cup excitement to Parliament.  Andrew’s offices in both Burton and Westminster are adorned with the flag of St. George in a declaration of support for Fabio Capello’s side. Andrew said: “I think the World Cup is a fantastic event and I think we should all play our part in backing the England side. Hundreds of houses and businesses are flying the flag and, as the local MP, I want to play my part.” David Cameron is also been showing his support for the England team by flying St. George’s flag above Downing Street for the first time ever. Andrew pointed to the further potential upside to Burton’s brewing industry.  Andrew said: “For the town of Burton, the World Cup is even more significant as there is expected to be an extra 21 million pints of beer sold across the country in the next two weeks. With a bit of luck, not only will it be good for England if our boys go on and win the World Cup, but it will also be good for Burton with local breweries benefiting from the business.”
