MP ANDREW Griffiths is backing a fund-raising event being organised to raise money for medical equipment.
Plans are being put in place for the Run For Home event which will see teams find their way home from a secret location up to 100 miles away.
The event is the culmination of work for the Uttoxeter Friends of Burton Breast Care Unit.
The group is aiming to raise money to purchase equipment that enables reconstructive surgery to be undertaken locally instead of patients having to visit Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
Mr Griffiths, new Conservative MP for Burton constituency, which includes Uttoxeter, will be launching the event at Thomas Alleyne’s High School, Uttoxeter, on Saturday, September 11.
He said: “I think this is a fantastic initiative.
“One in eight women in Uttoxeter are affected by breast cancer and being able to provide cutting-edge treatment locally would be an enormous help for many families in the area. It makes me proud how generous a town Uttoxeter is.”
