BURTON’S MP Andrew Griffiths welcomed a former prime minister to parliament and hosted a reception in his honour.
The reception for Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, the former prime minister of Azad Kashmir, in Asia, was held on the terrace of the House of Commons and included special guests.
Mr Griffiths, who hosted the reception in his capacity as the new chairman of the all-part parliamentary Kashmir group, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Sardar Attique to Parliament after he so kindly hosted me in Kashmir during my visit in 2011.
“The Kashmir Group promised its support in calling for self-determination for the people of Kashmir and it was great to meet Sardar Attique again to discuss this important issue.”
Mr Griffiths also welcomed Burton businessman Mohammed Jamil to the reception.
