Burton’s MP Andrew Griffiths will be meeting with representatives of East Midlands Trains as part of his ongoing campaign to get much needed upgrades to the town’s train station.
At the meeting with EMT, Andrew intents to push them to ensure they make the much needed improvements to Burton’s station, as well as to the train service running through Uttoxeter. Andrew is hoping that the Leader of East Staffordshire Borough Council, Cllr. Richard Grosvenor, Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Cllr. Mark Winnington, and Deputy Leader of East Staffordshire Borough Council, Cllr. Jacqui Jones will also be attending.
Andrew said, “This is an important step in making the case for upgrades to Burton’s train station. I am pleased that the previous meeting has kick started efforts on this vitally important project. Too long the gateway to Burton has been an eye sore and I am determined to improve the look and appeal of Burton train station. I hope that EMT will listen to our concerns which are shared by many users of the station, as well as Burton Rotary Club, who I know have also been trying to find a solution to this.”
