Burton’s MP has welcomed latest figures which show a dramatic increase in the number of doctors and nurses at Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
It follows a successful campaign by Mr Griffiths which saw an additional £8million being given specifically to Queen’s Hospital and East Staffordshire GPs on top of this additional staffing.
Since 2010 the Burton Trust has seen an extra 26 hospital doctors recruited and 166 hospital nurses. At the same time, an extra 12,469 operations were completed last year, compared with 2009/2010. 28,704 more cancer tests were completed and 52,909 more people were seen in A&E in less than four hours compared with 2009/10.
Mr Griffiths said: “I am determined to see extra funding and resources for Queen’s Hospital and our GPs, and I pay tribute to all the hard work that the staff at Queen’s are doing.”
