BURTON’S MP spoke of his ‘delight’ after news of Molson Coors’ multi-million investment in brewing in the town was announced.
This is the best news to hit Burton in many, many years. I think that it secures the future of Molson Coors in the town, not just for the years of this spending, but for decades spanning into the future.Andrew Griffiths said: “This is the best news to hit Burton in many, many years. “Congratulations has to be given to Mark Hunter and all of the workforce in Burton for demonstrating and putting faith in one of the country’s biggest brewers, which essentially is putting faith in Burton and East Staffordshire as a whole.
“More than anything though this massive announcement is the biggest confirmation yet that Burton is and will always be the home of brewing.
“It is such a fantastic achievement that will provide such a huge lift for so many people across the area and I don’t think I am out of line in continuing to stress how big a deal this is.
“After being briefed about the investment, I now plan to have a more in-depth meeting with Mark Hunter and others from Molson Coors.
“In the meeting I will be making sure that, out of the jobs created during construction of the new facilities, as many jobs as possible go to local people.
“This is almost a double whammy for Burton. We are receiving a multi-million investment and the creation of work that will allow people to get back to work.
“This is why this is a great day for Molson Coors, its staff and the whole of Burton — it is a day that should be celebrated and will hopefully remain in the memory for a long time.”
