Uttoxeter’s MP Andrew Griffiths has welcomed the news that the mobile breast screening unit will be returning to the town from Thursday 26th February.
The unit will return to the leisure centre car park following a successful campaign by Mr Griffiths and residents of the town.
For many months, Uttoxeter residents were having to travel to Burton for scans after a location for the unit could not be found while the leisure centre refurbishment took place. The Health Trust in charge were initially unable to give a timescale for the return of the unit, but after a campaign led by the MP, have finally announced the date.
Andrew said: “It is fantastic news that the breast screening unit will be back in Uttoxeter from Thursday. Screening is so important to help catch cancer early, and it is vital that this facility is available in Uttoxeter.
“I would encourage everyone who missed or declined their alternative appointment in Burton to get booked in. I would also like to thank everyone who supported the campaign.”
Ladies who wish to make a screening appointment at the unit can call the screening office on 01543 576235.
